Father said to me, “My people are Passionate.” And along with His words came illumination. I saw Passion birthing ‘the fantastic’. I saw a dream turning into reality through Passion. I saw Passion lifting a car off a pinned child. I saw Passion speaking the Spirit of Life into large groups of people. I saw it walking across the country to honor a loved one. I saw it refusing to let a husband die when he hadn’t breathed in many minutes. I saw it healing, blessing, building. It was like pouring the oil of Love into a bowl and touching a spark to it.
I could tell that Father loves Passion. He sees Himself in our Passion because it is His characteristic. It is through His Passion we were brought to life. Passion changes everything. It rotates fact at a molecular level and changes the results. We don’t ‘create’ passion. It is born of love. It is love with flames on! We feel it burning deep in our chest like liquid fire. It is life at a crescendo.
Passion, is what made Jesus go to the cross. It is what burned in Him to redeem people who despised Him. Passion is what pulled me out of my body to experience floating in outer atmosphere while calling the name of someone I loved, who I couldn’t find. Passion is what made me marry an alcoholic and see him delivered and changed. Passion made me fearless. And isn’t Fear the one emotion we want to obliterate? Fear makes us pull back and stop. It turns us into cowards. But Passion sets us free. In passion we perform the greatest feats.
It sounds a lot like Holy Spirit. Maybe it is Him. Or it is at least another aspect of Him.
What if we didn’t suppress it? What if we let it fly freely? What if we gave it the freedom He gave us? Wouldn’t it look like love with wings? Wouldn’t it take us into His presence? Shouldn’t we stop confining it? Shouldn’t we let it fly? Shouldn’t we agree with Father, that it is an awesome characteristic?
Doesn’t scripture say cowards are hated? They pull back and create nothing. Doesn’t scripture also speak of being hot or cold? That seems like a simple description of Passion. It is never lukewarm and never pulls back. It is the antithesis of fear. It is courage. But we tame it for propriety’s sake; because it isn’t accepted behavior; because it takes us into situations that appear . . . well, simply crazy. We have heard that passion might be out of control and we should always be in control. And we often understand passion as only sexual. It is not only sexual. It is many things and it is never out of control. It actually has the clearest vision of the goal ahead.
Passion IS love’s creative power! I agree with you, Father. Passion is amazing! I choose Passion be free to fly in me where it will.
