LOVING MY ALCOHOLIC

[Something I learned from being married to an alcoholic who did not love me.]

Love doesn’t require reciprocation to live and to do it powerfully.  Love is a force that is God, Himself.  It is Power, itself.  Love’s only source of life is to be part and parcel of God.

Love isn’t born because two people are attracted to each other.  Love is born from God.  And the more we relationship with God, the greater the Love we experience within ourselves.

It is our own wrong thinking that tells us our love will die if the other person doesn’t behave properly.  The truth is that we get angry with the other and then choose to reject the love which is freely given to us from God. Continue reading LOVING MY ALCOHOLIC

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!!!

Of my prophetic friends, I have a 50/50 chance of hearing such an announcement.  But honestly what I hear is the computer on the bridge of the starship Enterprise.

Can you hear it?  “Warning, Warning, Warning!” Yeah, ok, that’s a Trekkie thing.  Ha.  And I admit I absolutely loved that show along with all the movies and the sequel series. But I could continue to love it because I always knew the ‘warnings” meantwarning on the Enterprise complete destruction would somehow be overcome by the end of the hour through the genius of Captain Kirk, or Jean Luke Picard or Kathryn Janeway. CALL ME WHATEVER, I’M CLIMBING!

I'm climbing

I’m climbing and it matters little what others might call me. As I claw at the dirt and rocks, I’m learning the best places to grab a handhold or position my foot.  Sometimes I clamber quickly and cause rolling scrabble and then I turn to watch it after I reach a plateau. BURL WOOD

burl wood

Twisted chaos in trees results in something called burl wood.  It’s when a tree – any tree – has grown in a deformed manner.  It creates knots that are commonly found in the trunk or branches and comes from stress, injury, virus or fungus.  Sometimes burls grow underground attached to roots as a malignancy that’s not discovered until the tree dies and falls over.

Father said that He sees these anomalies in our own lives differently than we do.

Crisis and chaos cause injury, stress, and disease in us.  We scream out in pain wanting it to stop because we believe it will kill us. And sometimes it does, just as trees sometimes die from their injuries.

But it’s those that survive and heal in spite of the damage, that become burl wood.

The healing process doesn’t erase the damage, it encases it and changes the grain of our growth. The key is in the healing. It creates something that can be likened to burl wood.

Burl is prized for its beauty and rarity.  Furniture makers, artists, and sculptors seek it for its unique qualities of strength and resistance to splintering. And because of its value, there are many poachers in National Parks. Even when the tree dies, it lives on with more value than any other.

A few years ago, Father gave me a vision of a staircase made of burl that represented my life.  It’s an amazingly fabulous staircase whose cost would be prohibitive to build.  And that high cost is because of that wood.

Father used burl wood to create this staircase because He saw value from the way He healed me.   The damage and pain were not the victors in my story anymore. Not because I didn’t see some types of death. I did. But in spite of death, His healing worked to change the DNA of my heart. And, I survived.

When I was desperate to escape the pain and damage of my life, He told me to walk forward and heal.  He said He would heal me and make me hard in a way that would be strong and not splinter.

That’s the real essence of Overcoming.

We change into a hardness that is not unloving.  It’s just undamageable.  And there’s the difference.

We don’t actually die inside His resurrection power because nothing can kill something that keeps coming back to life.  And when we know this victorious dichotomy, it’s when we can stand before chaos and say “Do your worst because you won’t win.  Even if you kill me, I will rise again.”

I wanted to share this revelation because we often spend great amounts of time trying to erase the effects of the calamities in our lives.  We believe that perfection means without flaw.  We don’t realize that we are like burl wood.  It is the flaw itself when healed, that becomes the priceless pearl.

I believe He is saying “Stop spending so much time trying to erase them.  Let me make something extraordinarily beautiful from your wounds.  Let me!”

BEAUTIFUL STORM CLOUDS

storm clouds

Storm clouds blew in with pounding rain and hail, and I spoke to them the way I heard Father speaking in my spirit. It was about loving the weather, healing it just like we do our bodies.  He said the earth itself is in need of healing from the rampant destructiveness of darkness.  But I didn’t understand until He widened my spirit sight to see Love as it was poured into the clouds just like a mother would love a child.

He said the weather has suffered under heavy and cruel curses. Many of those voices speak of global warming and the inevitable effects. And some are simply people not seeing the kind of weather they desire for their events. So they curse the clouds. Continue reading BEAUTIFUL STORM CLOUDS

DESTROYING BUTTONS

finger on the buttons

We all have buttons we’d like to destroy because people keep pushing them. And the results are chaos and turmoil.

This happened to me recently and I recognized that I reacted the same way every time with one particular person.  The simple solution of walking away from her was not going to happen because I love her. She is family. And I want to understand what is between us.

So, I asked Jesus how to deal with this because I was beginning to fear her. I’ll call her Lisa. Lisa has a strong personality.  But Jesus told me not to go to her in this instance because the problem was not hers but mine.  The pain I felt was a button of guilt I had hidden deep inside myself years ago. I hadn’t handled life perfectly and therefore I’d caused pain to others, including Lisa. THE PATH OF OBSTACLES

obstacles

I hate finding my path filled with obstacles. That’s when I want to sit down and sigh. And wonder if it’s worth the struggle.

Well, that depends on the goal, of course. Obstacles pop up most of the time when we’re pursuing a dream. It isn’t all sunshine and butterflies on the way to completion. Continue reading THE PATH OF OBSTACLES
